Scale food and nutrition estimates carefully

Food calculators can scale recipes, compare serving sizes, estimate nutrition, and convert kitchen quantities. Check whether an input is a weight or a volume: a cup measures volume, while grams measure mass, and the relationship depends on the ingredient. For reliable recipe scaling, keep the original serving count and multiply every ingredient by the same factor.

Nutrition values also depend on brand, preparation method, edible portion, and rounding on labels. Use estimates for meal planning and comparison, then refer to the package, recipe source, or a qualified professional when allergies, medical diets, or exact nutrient targets matter.

Recipe cost and serving calculations work best when every ingredient uses the same purchase basis. Convert package prices to a cost per gram, milliliter, or item before adding them, and include only the amount actually used. For baking, weigh dry ingredients when possible because packed cups and spoon measurements can vary noticeably between people.
